G'day, Howzitgoing?, Now I reckon I like a fair bit of metal, you know Heavy, Glam, Power, Classic...but then the other day I found a new "genre" and you wont believe this ...Acapella Metal , yep zero guitars and keyboards...although they do have a drummer , oh, the name of this vastly talented group of metallers is

Van Canto are a German acappella metal band, begun  in 2006 and composed of five singers and a drummer. ....the "band" lean towards probably my favourite kind of metal, that being power and symphonic , performing  what they call "hero metal a cappella", although  they also do a cracking version of The Final Countdown

Dennis and Inga perform the lead vocals, the other guys  use their voices to imitate the guitars and the bass, with the help of amplifiers, and some of Ross Thompsons lead breaks are absolutely phenomenal

As soon as the band was founded, its debut album, A Storm to Come, was released through General Schallplatten. It features seven original tracks, as well as cover versions of Metallica's "Battery" and "Stora Rövardansen" from the movie Ronja Rövardotter. Additionally, videos were shot for the tracks "The Mission", "Battery", and "Rain".

On 30 September 2007, they announced a new drummer, Bastian Emig, who replaced Dennis Strillinger's position in the band. In December 2007, Van Canto signed a worldwide record deal with Gun Records/Sony BMG. Then the band were announced as part of the line up of the Wacken 2008 festival. The band also announced that their second album, titled "Hero", was in the progress of being recorded. Hero ended up being released on 26 September 2008, with producer Charlie Bauerfeind.

In late 2009, Van Canto was recorded  their third studio album in Twilight Hall Studios, with Bauerfeind and via Napalm Records.  It was released worldwide in early 2010, which coincided with the worldwide release of their previous two albums.

The album was announced at Nuclear Blast official website as Tribe of Force. The track listing features 13 tracks, two of them being covers ("Master of Puppets" by Metallica and "Rebellion" by Grave Digger), and three of them featuring guest artists: Victor Smolski (from Rage) guest appears in "One to Ten", Tony Kakko (from Sonata Arctica) guest appears on "Hearted" and Chris Boltendahl (from Grave Digger) guest appears in "Rebellion".

Van Canto performed guest vocals on albums by bands Blind Guardian and Grave Digger (At the Edge of Time and untitled, respectively). They also appeared on the Tarja Turunen album What Lies Beneath (on the track "Anteroom of Death")

On 21 September 2010 it was announced that they had teamed up with the MMORPG Runes of Magic to create a music video based around the game for and with the game.
On 17 February 2011, it was announced on the official Van Canto website that the band was entering the studio and suspending touring until June in order to create a new album....which turned out to be  Break the Silence and it was released on 22 September 2011

Their fifth album, Dawn of the Brave, was released in February 2014.  It contains 9 own compositions and 4 covers  "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, "The Final Countdown" by Europe, "Holding out for a Hero" by Bonnie Tyler, and "Into the West" by Annie Lennox from the soundtrack for the motion picture The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King.

In November 2015, the band announced Ingo "Ike" Sterzinger would leave them to follow other projects, and that he would be replaced by Jan Moritz, from the Stimmgewalt choir.
On 11 March 2016, the band released their sixth album, the metal opera Voices of Fire. On January 18, they released a lyric video for the first track from the album, "Clashings on Armour Plates".

On 18 February 2016, they released the official music video for the "The Bardcall"...and here it is

Hero (2008)
Tribe of Force (2010)

its a WIG WAM blam Blog

Now a tribute blogaroo, to a band that made me appreciate Eurovision AND Glam rock all over again...AND now their done

Wig Wam came from Norway and they started in 2001.

Before their establishment the band members were already active in the music business, playing in bands like Dream Police, Artch, Sha-Boom, Ole Evenrud and Alien, or as solo artists.

Wig Wam worked hard to get to the top of the national charts, starting their career with numerous live performances across the country, quickly becoming one of Norway's most popular live bands. Their fan base was known as Wig Wamaniacs.

In 2004 the band released its debut album "667 ... The Neighbour Of The Beast", Amongst other things, the album contains a cover of Mel C's .'s no. 1 hit I Turn to You.

After qualifying for the Eurovision Song Contest , Wig Wam released their album all over Europe, in a new version called "Hard To Be A Rock'n'Roller…In Kiev", including the hit "In My Dreams".

Among their musical idols, Wig Wam count the groups KISS and Sweet (me too)
In November 2005 the band released their first DVD 'Rock 'N' Roll Revolution 2005' showing the highlights from Wig Wam's best year so far. Included in this DVD is 'Wig Wam Symphonic'

In March 2006 the band released its second full album Wig Wammania with much better distribution around Europe. .....In July 2006 Wig Wamania was also released in Japan by King Records with 3 bonus tracks.

By the end of August Wig Wam’s previous album also hit the Japanese market. The album’s Japanese edition with 3 bonus tracks is being slightly retitled to “Hard To Be A Rock’n Roller… In Tokyo!”.

The band released their third studio album Non Stop Rock n Roll on January 22, 2010.

Brand New legend in the making: AARON KEYLOCK

Once again Ive discovered a absolutely BEYOND bonza prodigiously talented teenager...the one the only AARON KEYLOCK

Aaron  picked up the guitar aged 8 and by the age of 11 he was rocking the clubs in his hometown, Oxford. ....His already a young road rock warrior with hundreds of shows under his belt; at age 12 he got adept at arguing  with club door knobs  who wouldn’t let him into venues he was playing at,
By the time he was 13 years old he was playing every night of the week and met  Joe Bonamassa who gave the young Aaron some sage  advice from Joes  time as a teen guitar hero;

at 16 he supported one of my personal favourites, Blackberry Smoke on their ‘Leave A Scar’ UK tour...Since then, he has gone back on tour with Blackberry Smoke for the 2016 ’Like An Arrow’ tour, been on the road with The Answer, The Cadillac Three, The Graveltones among others

His album highlights a fantastic  young British rock talented axe slinger
Aaron reflects; “Just One Question was probably the first song I ever wrote when I was 13. Musically and lyrically it was just a blues song and it’s funny to think it’s still with me and that I’ve been playing it for almost 5 years!”

“Against the Grain was penned about 3 years ago now and has grown on the road; I had a Led Zeppelin style riff, mixed it with some Johnny Winter vibe and stamped my own style on it.”

Crowd favourite tune Medicine Man was the first song he ever demo-ed
he invoked Rory Gallagher on All The Right Moves, its a lightning rocker that’s fast becoming a crowd favourite.

“I guess what I’ve always loved about Rock n’ Roll is that you’re free to express yourself in many ways and to use many guitar techniques to convey different emotions…My influences really vary!” he adds......Things have been building momentum and in Cut Against The Grain, Aaron Keylock is set to launch himself on the world full throttle.

Feel The Shake ..Its a Jetboy Blogaroo

G'day,
Tis me again with yet another band that never got played on Aussie radio (or Rage or Sounds or V or anywhere down here in the colonys basically
And I have to say having grabbed a c.d of "Feel The Shake" the other day while thumbing through a pawn shops music for sale , I wish i knew of them back then , I might of got a blond mohawk and all kinds of carry on....ANYWAY to the story of Jetboy

Although they were often considered Mötley Crüe disciples, Los Angeles '80s rockers Jetboy contained a former member of the group that may have been responsible for the whole musical movement in the first place .....Sam Yaffa, yeh him of Hanoi Rocks

Joining Yaffa were Mickey Finn (vocals), Fernie Rod (guitar), Billy Rowe (guitar), and Ron Tostenson (drums), and while they never hit the big time like the Crue et al, the boys enjoyed exposure on MTV's Headbanger's Ball program, resulting in some regional success. Their first two albums, 1988's Feel the Shake and 1990's Damned Nation were issued during glam's peak, but with the emergence of that Grunge malarky  Jetboy took a backseat to Nirvana and other similarly miserable nitiwits .

During the late '90s, several collections of rarities and highlights were released, including Day in the Unglamorous Life, Make Some More Noise, and Lost & Found. For the long suffering fans  of '80s glam/pop-metal, Jetboy are one of the genre's best-kept secrets.

After parting ways with original bass player Todd Crew in mid-1987, the band was joined by  Yaffa, a member of one of the groups Jetboy had claimed to be their biggest influencel, was now a member of the band as their new bassist.
In August 1987 Todd Crew died due to a drug overdose .

Jetboy continued on into the 1990s before disbanding in 1992. However, over a decade later, Jetboy hooked back up, toured and recorded a new EP, Off Your Rocker in 2010. Having been absent from the studio for some 20 years, Jetboy recorded Off Your Rocker in a fully organic mode. The band played all in the same room together in a “live-style” format in an effort to duplicate the way the songs were written, all together, in a true 1970’s fashion where the band could feed off of one another’s energy.

On June 1, 2012 Jetboy did a 25-year reunion for their debut album ‘Feel The Shake’ at the Whiskey  in Hollywood. The line-up for this show included all original members with a surprise appearance by their second bass player Sami Yaffa ....

This was the first time they all shared the stage together in over 20 years. Jetboy plan to continue with the original line-up with Charles Norman on bass who replaced Yaffa in 1989.

Jetboy geared up in late 2015 to bring their style of rock n roll to the stage again. The band performed at The Cathouse ( yep, the place owned by Rikki Rachtman) Live on August 15, 2015
